Will a football match be the bridge out of Victoria?

8 06 2009

I don’t know if it was just me worrying about holding the first State of Origin Rugby League match in Victoria last week. Given that the two states involved were Queensland and NSW, you were always going to get a lot of interstate visitors to Melbourne (literally thousands of people from NSW and Qld went down to Melbourne to watch last week). (Don’t ask me why you hold a State of Origin match in neither of the “Origin States”).

Anyway, this piece from ABC news would seem to imply that the worriers were right. The entire Queensland team is now in quarantine after a player tested positive to Swine Flu. It will be interesting to see if we get an uptick in NSW and Qld cases over the next week…
